At Berkeley Lab Guest House, we aim to be as transparent as possible with our guests. We understand you may have questions about your potential or upcoming stay, so we've created this list of frequently asked questions to help you feel more confident about your upcoming visit.

 

Q: WHO CAN STAY AT THE BERKELEY LAB GUEST HOUSE?
A: Official visitors of the UC Berkeley (UCB) and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL) communities are eligible to stay. Official visitors include those conducting experiments, attending a UC or LBNL-sponsored meeting/conference/event and visiting students. A complete list of eligible categories is available HERE. Q: WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN I ARRIVE?
A: We are located within the LBNL facility, a federal property. Blackberry Gate is a 24-hour operated secured access gate you will encounter upon your arrival. Be ready to provide your government-issued I.D. and confirmation letter to obtain access.


Q: IS THERE PARKING?
A: Complimentary guest parking is available on a first-come, first serve basis in Parking Lot “Z”, directly across from us on Lawrence Road. Please ask our Front Desk team for a parking pass upon your arrival.


Q: WHAT DINING OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
A: Our lobby’s pantry consists of grab & go food options for any meal of the day. Food delivery apps, such as UberEATS & DoorDash, are also available for guests to use. For dine-in optiolns, we suggest taking the lab shuttle to discover local cuisines and eclectic flavors the Bay Are ais known for. Stop by the Front Desk for some of our favorite suggestions!

 

Q: IS YOUR HOTEL PET FRIENDLY?
A: While we love our pets as much as you do, unfortunately, we are not a pet-friendly hotel. Service animals are always allowed.


Q: I BOOKED A ROOM ONLINE AND HAVE QUESTIONS. WHO CAN I CALL TO CLARIFY?
A: Our front desk is staffed 24 hours, and we are always happy to answer any questions you might have. Give us a call at 510-495-8000.


Q: WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
A: We have a 24-hour cancellation policy (from our 3:00 PM PST check-in time). Canceled reservations within this window are subject to a charge of the first night's room rate.


Q: DO YOU HAVE ROLL-AWAY BEDS AND CRIBS?
A: We do not offer roll-away beds but we do have pack-and-plays available at no extra charge.


Q: DO YOU HAVE A POOL, SPA OR FITNESS CENTER?
A: We do not have a pool, spa, or fitness center, but our courteous staff is able to point you in the direction of some local facilities. There are jogging trails available around the lab facility.


Q: CAN I BRING MY CHILD?
A: Minors under the age of 18 years old are permitted to stay at the Guest House suject to approval from LBNL. An adult is required to accompany any minor at all times while on the LBNL property.


Q: WHAT SECURITY DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED?
A: We require a nominal $1.00 deposit on a credit card for all of our guests, per room, upon check-in. We only accept major credit cards for room deposits, and the deposit hold is typically released within 5 business days.


Q: ARE THERE ANY SMOKING ROOMS?
A: We do not offer smoking rooms, however, there are designated smoking areas surrounding the property.


Q: DOES YOUR HOTEL OFFER ACCESSIBLE ACCOMMODATIONS?
A: We have accessible rooms available upon request.


Q: WHEN IS CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT?
A: Check-in is 3:00 PM PST, and check-out is 12:00 PM PST.


Q: ARE LATE CHECK-OUTS/EARLY CHECK-INS PERMITTED?
A: Late check-out & early check-in requests are subject to availability, and may be subject to an additional charge.


Q: DO ALL YOUR ROOMS OFFER A/C?
A: All of our rooms offer A/C.


Q: DO YOU HAVE HIGH SPEED WIRED OR WIRELESS INTERNET?
A: We offer high speed wireless internet for no charge to all of our guests.


Q: DO YOU HAVE CONNECTING ROOMS?
A: No, we do not have any connecting rooms.
